Mason Jars Part 2 - Beachy Table Decor

Hello again! This is Part 2 of my 3 part blog on how to decorate our new PURPLE mason jars.  Last week I showed you how to turn your jar into a beautiful candle holder.  Today I will show you how to dress up your jar to use as table decor for a wedding or any other type of party.

You will need the following supplies:
- Pint size mason jar
- 1 2.5" burlap roll
- 1 spool 7/8" satin ribbon in your color of choice
- 1 bag seashells
- 1 roll 1/4" double sided tape
- E6000 glue or a hot glue gun

First take your burlap roll and wrap around your jar to measure how much you need.  It should overlap about 1/4".

Apply double sided tape to your strip of burlap.  I put one strip on the top and one on the bottom.  Remove the tape backing and place burlap on jar.  Try to line it up so the ends meet in the middle of one side of the jar.

Next, do the same to your satin ribbon.  It should only need one strip of double sided tape. Place the satin ribbon over the burlap. Make sure the ends meet at the same place as the burlap.

Finally, turn your jar so that the side where the ribbon ends overlap is in the back.  Pick out your favorite shell and use either E6000 or a hot glue gun to adhere the shell in the center of your ribbons.

Voila, you're done! This project is great because you can customize it to your own color scheme and it is very fast and easy to make.  You can place it on your table as is or use it for flowers, utensils, or anything else you can think of! Enjoy and come back next Thursday to see Mason Jars Part 3 - Doily Vase.

Get on the Shabby Chic Grapevine

I've seen a lot of fall decorations made with grapevine wreaths lately; especially, I think, because the woodsiness of grapevine can really enhance the feeling of autumn in your home. However, once we move past fall, you shouldn't put those decorations away; you can easily update your grapevines for Christmas. Here are a few Christmas grapevine decorations for you to peruse:

First, a simple and wondrous, wintry wreath. The shades of blue and gray and the glittery, icy, frosted accents make your "winter wonderland" easy to achieve. If I could, I would do up my whole house in these vintage hues, they give me such a feeling of calmness and serenity, like a quiet, winter morning.

Next up, here's a fun idea for a tall window or door; how about making a grapevine snowman? The homely and rustic grapevines are spray painted white and then wrapped in lights for extra appeal. A pretty piece of ribbon then becomes our snowman's scarf. Our "Frosty" catches everyone's gaze without going overboard.

And last, here's a beautiful grapevine chandelier to hang in your home. Again with this piece we've taken the rustic grapevine and added some glitz in the form of glittery ornaments and a deep, teal color. The end result is a chic and playful hanging that has hints of a primitive, unsophisticated style.

I hope you enjoyed our grapevine, shabby-chic Christmas ideas. Only 29 more days to go til everyone's favorite time of year!

Shabby Chic Mason Jar & Burlap Ribbon Chandelier

Aloha Crafters ~

Today's Idea & Inspiration is a Shabby Chic Mason Jar & Burlap Ribbon Chandelier.

Clear pint size mason jars were wrapped with natural burlap ribbon using double stick tape. Then rolled ribbon roses were made from our robin's egg blue burlap ribbon and adhered to the jar with hot glue.

Twine was then wrapped below the jar lip,and loosely knotted. A "handle" length of twine was attached by knotting both sides of the twine on each side of the jar lip. After handle was attached, twine below the jar lip was tightened and securely knotted.

Both the robin's egg blue and natural burlap ribbon were twisted and used to hang the mason jar lights. Twinkle lights were then put in each jar.
