Crankin' Out Crafts Party

Remember when I mentioned last week that our Enchanted Lake store is having a Crankin' Out Crafts party coming up on April 28th? Well, today I wanted to show you two more awesome "crankin'" projects that we will be doing at our party.

The first project is going to be a demonstration for a crayon canvas. This is a super fun and easy project that is great to do with your kids.

Our second project is the wild block make n' take. These animal themed glass blocks are something that anyone can do and still make a great statement for a party or for your home.

We hope that you'll join in on the Crankin' fun with us at our party. Don't forget, it takes place at our Enchanted Lake Ben Franklin store from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, April 28th. If you want to learn about all the projects that we'll be featuring that day, you can always drop by our store for more information.

Heavy gel medium (found in our art section)

Palette knife

Photo printed on printer paper (not photo paper)

Large container or bucket of water

Crankin' Out Crafts Episode 17: Engraved Block

 This engraving pen makes a noise very similar to a dentist’s drill, but Puna doesn’t care, she’s making an intriguing decoration on a glass block.

Stencil (pick your own design)

Crankin' Out Crafts Episode 16: Cherry Blossom Block

Welcome to a brand new week of Crankin’ Out Crafts. This week we want you to get ready for a block party – a glass block party. That’s right; we’re decorating those great containers that look like building supplies for igloos.

JFlo gets us started off with Episode 16 – Cherry Blossom Block.

In this episode, JFlo is back again with more alcohol, except this time she’s using alcohol inks to make a beautiful cherry blossom design on a glass block. 

The supply list for this project is not long, but it’s not exactly short either:

Glass block

Tim Holtz’s alcohol ink applicator

Applicator felt cut into flower shapes

Alcohol inks (your color choice)

Scribbles (JFlo uses the “Golden Brown” color in the video)

Join us on Wednesday for a glass block decoration that will really “etch” itself into your memory.

Bloomin' Blocks

Spring is almost in full bloom at Enchanted Lake and our flowery mood is slowly growing on our staff. We created some great glass block motifs using Adirondack alcohol inks and a little ingenuity.

To make the first block we used our AccuCut machine to cut the alcohol ink felt applicators into flower shapes. After a small application of blending solution, we used a few drops of the Watermelon ink on the petals and the Pearl metallic ink in the center of the felt flower. With just a few stamps we got our cherry blossom design. We finished the look with some gold Scribbles for the branches.

Our hydrangea block was made using the same method as the cherry blossom block. The colors are Stream and Wild Plum mixed together on the same flower shaped felt applicator. This time, however, we left out the blending solution for a more vibrant flower. We once again gave our block some finishing touches using Scribbles in an iridescent pearl color for the flower centers.

We're having so much fun using the Adirondack Alcohol Inks that I'm sure we'll have another great idea for you soon.
