Resin Working with Shells

Check out these AWESOME Shells created using UV Resin, Photos and some embellishments!!

Supplies:
Photos (Printed on Computer Paper)
Sea Shells
UV Resin
UV Lamp
Mod Podge
Small Brush
Embellishments (Rhinestones, Glitter, Small metal embellishments and tiny pearls)
Sand (Tan Color)

How To:

Use Mod Podge to adhere the photo to the inside of the shell by brushing a coat onto the shell itself and also brushing a coat onto the back of the photo. Carefully rub out any air bubbles with your fingers. Once the Mod Podge dries, Pour some UV Resin onto the edges of the shells and dip them into Sand, place under the UV Light for a few minutes and take out. Coat the photo and the inside of the shell with Resin and place back under the UV light for a few minutes to harden. Use Rhinestones and small embellishments by coating the embellishments with Resin on the shells and placing under the UV Light to harden.

Use these shells as a way to display your trips and memorabilia. They would look great scattered in a bowl or even on a magnet! Glue a ribbon on them as a Christmas Ornament!

Smash Sale

If you haven't heard of Smash yet by K&Company, you really should check it out. Smash is a new line from one of our favorite scrapbooking companies and it's taking off. Much like an idea site such as Pinterest, Smash is a book, a journal, a folio, a memo, a note, a place to put pictures, a scrapbook, and really anything you want it to be. Would you like to keep track of certain important events? You can do that with Smash.

Smash also includes a line of ready-made, super stylish embellishments and tools to help you make your Smash book awesome, fast.

Got an idea for a scrap page that you want to remember? Smash it in!

Have someone who's smile makes you happy? Smash it in!

Want to share special things about your friends or people you've just met? Smash it in!

Honestly, we were having so much fun smashing that we even smashed our Smash embellishments into our
book.

Our Smash products are on sale right now until March 9th at our Hawaii Ben Franklin locations. We've got this great display right at the front of the store filled with all kinds of ideas and fun stuff. You can even learn more about your favorite Enchanted Lake Ben Franklin employees by reading our sample. (There are some pretty juicy tidbits inside.)

Now I've gotta go home and get started on my own Smash book. See you soon!

Hana Hou - Crankin' Out Crafts Episode 18: Photo Transfer Glass Block & Friday Framing Tip: Different Types of Glass

We're back today with another one of our favorite episodes featuring JFlo & B-Dizzle! The Photo Transfer Glass Block makes a great centerpiece or personalized gift. Then watch as B-Dizzle states clearly, the differences between types of glass.

Time for Friday’s edition of Crankin’ Out Crafts. BTW, please don’t use large blocks of ice for these projects, it won’t work at all, we’ve tried.

JFlo shows off one of her best ideas ever, with this photo transfer method done on a glass block.

Much like today’s project, we are completely transparent with our supply lists:
Glass block
Heavy gel medium (found in our art section)
Palette knife
Photo printed on printer paper (not photo paper)
Large container or bucket of water

We also have a special treat for you today; B-dizzle is back with another Friday framing tip. Today she talks about different types of glass.

Cubic Cuties

I wanted everyone to see what Bora, our framer at Enchanted Lake, made with our wood cubes and a little bit of imagination. Aren't they cute? The lamp on the left is made with scrapbooking paper, some acrylic paint, metal feet from Tim Holtz, a wooden dowel, and awesome pictures of Bora's niece. The giraffe is made completely out of wood pieces with the exception of the felt ears, pipe cleaner horns, and an eyelash yarn tail. We're thinking about making an animal set with these wood cubes. What do you think? Thanks for reading! Puna @ Enchanted Lake
