Rose Petal Votive

Hi there! I've been wanting to make this rose petal votive for the longest time and I finally had the chance! It was so fast and easy to put together and looks AMAZING. It'll make the perfect addition to any table decoration.

You will need the following supplies:

- One Ivy Bowl or Bubble Ball Bowl
- One solid color bag of fake rose petals
- Hot glue gun
- Battery operated candle or Firefly Lights
- Bling (optional)

Apply hot glue to the very bottom of a petal.

Place it on the bowl so that the tip of the petal is slightly above the rim of the bowl.  By gluing only the bottom down, the top droops a little bit like a real rose.

Glue petals down one by one until you have a layer that circles the entire bowl. Now start to apply the next layer so that it overlaps the top layer.  To make it look more organic, off center the petals so they aren't lined up perfectly.

Continue to work layer by layer until you cover the whole bowl.

You can add some bling to the bottom of the bowl if you'd like but it's not necessary.

There you have it! I can't wait to use mine in my room or for a romantic candlelight dinner :)

Until next time, happy crafting!

Mason Jars Part 1 - Candle Holder

Our new mason jars are in and the color for this year is PURPLE! Inspired by the new color, I'm going to have a 3 part blog featuring different ways to decorate your jars.

My first project is a mason jar candle holder.

You will need the following supplies:
-1 pint size mason jar
-E6000 glue
-1 bag glass gems (any color, I used Clear Luster)

Starting at bottom of jar, place a small amount of E6000 where you are going to place your first gems.  Also put some glue on a few gems.  Wait about a minute or two for the glue to get a little tacky.  One by one place your gems on the jar.  They may slide a little so hold in place until they start to set. Place gems on 1 row at a time. Make sure they are close to each other and there are no big gaps.

Once you finish placing gems on jar, let it dry for 24 hours before handling.

Use either a battery operated candle or Firefly Lights to give your candle holder a nice glow.

Faux Stained Glass Votive Holder

Here's a great gift idea for a birthday or for those pesky holidays that are approaching so very quickly. You can even get your kids to help you with making them because they are so, so easy. You need Scribbles puffy paint in black, alcohol inks in various colors, a brush, and a votive.

First, use your puffy paint to draw your design on the glass votive. For my sample, I stuck to easy, geometric shapes. The paint can take up to a day to dry, depending on how thick it's applied; make sure your lines are completely dry before moving to the next step. Next, take your brush and alcohol inks and color in the spaces between your puffy paint lines. You can use rubbing alcohol to clean your brush between colors. You could also use the rubbing alcohol to clean up any over-spill or mistakes. Then...well actually, then your done. Wrap them up and give them away as presents! Yay!
