Polymer Clay Donut

Want something sweet? You are in luck today! We are going to be making a polymer clay donut with sprinkles.  It will look really yummy, but you can't eat it. (Sorry.)  However, you can use it as an arm candy, a necklace, earrings and much more. Let's get started.

Supplies:
Polymer clay colors of your choice (I've used 5 Sculpey Souffle colors)
Cutting tool
Ball tool/needle tool
Eye pin
Baby wipe/Wet napkin

Optional:
Translucent Liquid Sculpey (TLS)



First choose your donut and icing flavor.  I chose to do a chocolate donut with vanilla icing.  Take a piece of polymer clay for your donut (the size you want for your donut).  Condition (knead between your fingers) your clay until its workable.  Roll it into a ball and flatten it out.

Take your ball tool/needle tool and create a hole in to middle to form your donut base.

Now it's time to add the icing.  Take a small amount of polymer clay for your icing.  Condition your clay, roll into a ball and flatten it out.  Pull some of the sides to make the icing look like it's hanging over the side of the donut.  Place your icing on the donut.  Get your ball tool/needle and create a hole in the middle (same as the donut base). 

Last but not least, the SPRINKLES!  Take a piece of polymer clay from 2 or 3 different colors.  Or, you can just do one - it's your choice.  Condition the clay as usual and roll it into a ball.  Next, you'll roll it out into a thin snake and cut it into small strips.

Now take each piece and place it onto your donut.  You can add as much sprinkles you want.

If you want to make it into a charm, just add a dab of translucent liquid sculpey (TLS) onto your eye pin and stick it into your donut.  *Bake clay according to the package instructions.*

 

And your donut is complete.

Doesn't it look so yummy? But just remember, this one is not for eating! :)

Stamped Trinket Bowl

This trinket bowl is so cute and so easy to make!
Dress up any end table, use them to hold jewelry, or give them as gifts!

Supplies:
DAS white air-dry clay
clay cutting tools
clay roller
stamps of your choice - geometric shapes work best
stamping inks of your choice - I used Memento teal and a Brilliance metallic copper
small disposable flexible bowls

(Optional: Duraclear polyurethane varnish, foam brush)

The Das air dry clay starts to harden quickly so as soon as you open the package, put the unused amount in a ziplock. Take about one fourth of your clay and roll it into a ball.

Take your clay and roll it out with your rolling tool. Thickness for your bowl can be about a fourth of an inch. It just needs to be somewhat sturdy so it does not break. Then you will place your bowl over the pancake of clay and cut a circle around the bowl with your cutting tool.

Once you have your circle, very lightly ink your stamp and press your stamp into the clay starting from the middle. If you start from the center, it makes your pattern look more symmetrical. Since the clay will absorb the ink instantly, you will want to make sure each stamping is clean and firm with no sliding.

When you are done stamping, place clay carefully in your bowl. You can gently press the sides down to keep a circular shape or you can create a wavy edge. The possibilities and combinations of shapes and color are endless! Set aside to dry completely for 24 hours.

*Optional: after 24 hours of drying time, you can seal in your ink with the paint-able varnish Duraclear. Apply a thin coat with a foam brush for best results.

How to create paper beads

Today we'll be learning how to create paper beads.  It's fast and simple. Let's get started...

Supplies: 
Aleene's Tacky Glue
Cardstock (your choice)
Scissors














Get your card stock and scissors and cut out triangles.  Start from one point to the other end.

Start folding the long end.  Keep rolling until you reach the tip.  Add a drop of glue and fold onto your paper to create your paper bead.

Your bead should look like this...

And you're done!

You can turn these beads into bracelets, necklaces and much more!

Fairy Dust In a Bottle

Today we're going to make a fairy dust in a bottle. It's fast and simple to make. It's great for party make and takes, gifts, jewelry and much more. Let's get started.

Supplies:
Glass Bottle with cork (any size)
Funnel
Glitters (your choice)
E-6000 (optional)

First gather your supplies.

Get your glass bottle and your funnel.  Take your cork off the bottle and place your funnel into the opening.  If your funnel doesn't fit the opening hold the funnel in place.

Start adding in your glitter choices and fill it to the bottom of the curve.  Don't fill it to the top.

 

This part is optional.  You can add E-6000 glue to the bottom of the cork to secure the cork in place.  Once you have added the glue, place the cork into the glass bottle opening and push into place.  Let the glue dry 24 hours before handling.

Glitter mixture should look like this..

If you want to blend the colors just shake your bottle until its blended..

And you're done! 

*If you want to turn this into a charm just screw in an eye screw (add a dab of glue before twisting it onto the cork).  Add jewelry cording to turn it into a necklace or a ball chain if you want a bag charm.*

Tulle Bow Hair Tie

Today you'll learn a simple and fast way to make your cute little tulle bow hair tie.  Let's get started.

Supplies:
Tulle (color of your choice)
Scissors
Yard Stick
Hair Tie





First gather your supplies.  Get your yard stick and tulle.  Measure out about 1/2 a yard to 1 yard of tulle and cut.  If you want your bow to be fuller you can cut out a longer piece.  Also cut out about 5 inches of tulle.

Wrap your 1 yard of tulle around your four fingers.  If you want the bow to be fuller, wrap the tulle around your finger tighter.

Gently slide the wrapped tulle off your fingers.  Get your 5 inch tulle and wrap it around the center of the wrapped tulle and tie a knot.

Slide your scissors between the knot and the outer fold and snip the tulle to separate the fold on both sides.

 It should look like this...

Trim of the excess tulle if necessary.

Get your hair tie and tulle bow.  Place the tulle bow onto the hair tie and with the center tulle tie a knot around the hair tie.  Trim off the center tulle to match the rest of the bow.

And you're done.  You can now wear this hair tie or give it as a gift.
