Halloween Derby

I know it may seem a little early to be mentioning Halloween, but now that September has rolled around, you only have two months to prepare. At Ben Franklin we've got some great Halloween costume and decor ideas ready and waiting for you.

Take these great paper mache derbys, for example. With just a little paint and some add-ons, these make awesome accessories for your costume.

I used Montana Gold spray paint to get this perfect and even paint coverage on the derby. After hot-gluing some glittered skulls, lace, and pipe cleaners, my hat was complete.

Here's another Halloween Derby but with a different theme.

This peacock ornament seemed like the ideal, attention-getting piece for this Derby. By adding on some more lace and a bit of tulle we've got an outstanding and eye-catching hat.

Of course we've got a lot more costume and decor ideas just waiting for you here at Ben Franklin. Don't forget to drop by the store to pick our brains and check out these samples.

Crankin' Out Crafts Party

It's time for another party hosted by your friendly Enchanted Lake Ben Franklin crafters! (Can you believe it's been a year already?) You may remember our party last year was all about urban style arts.

This was our awesome urban art wall from our 2011 party.
Well this year we're going viral! That's right, we're celebrating our video blog series called Crankin' Out Crafts which was started in this very store. Our Crankin' Out Crafts party is taking place on Saturday, April 28th from 10am to 2pm. We'll have lots of fun doing demonstrations and having hands-on make n' takes featuring some of the awesome projects we've done on Crankin' Out Crafts. Here's a sneak peak at one of the projects:

Pretty marble magnets

Marble rings made on our adjustable ring base

Marble pendant

For this make n' take, you'll have your pick of making a personalized marble magnet, ring, or pendant for a great accessory or gift. These would make beautiful Mother's Day gifts, don't you think?

You can stop in at the store for more information on times and prices for our paper party. We hope to see you there!
