Paracord Crafts for Summer

Time for some summer crafting fun? We've got a new book that just arrived in our stores called "Paracord Crafts." It's got a few really good crafts in it and EASY to understand directions. So great!

Following the instructions from this book I made this bright and summery paracord bracelet. It's woven a little differently than the ones that I've done before and I think it might be slightly less bulky.

3/8" Ribbon

Paracord

Ball-chain

Hair elastic

Wire cutters

Scissors

These headbands are so easy you can make a bunch and wear two or three at a time!

Argyle Headband

So, by the way, I'm still stuck on making hair accessories. Today I'm going to share a super quick headband which I made using just a few supplies. Something about this gray ribbon and pink paracord makes me think of argyle sweaters, so that's what I decided to call it, the "Argyle Headband".

Ta-da! To make this headband I used an "ouchless" hair elastic, some gray grosgrain ribbon, pink 550 paracord, and a ball-chain in a copper color.

After you've gathered all the supplies you just need to knot your three cords to the hair elastic and start braiding. When you run out of ball-chain just knot your headband to the other side of the hair elastic and poof! You're done!

Don't forget to melt the ends of the paracord after you cut them. If you don't they'll fray and the whole thing will pull apart!

My Argyle Headband was definitely a Pinterest inspired project, but I had to change a few things up like the using the paracord and ribbon. Check back in at our stores for instructions; they're on their way.

There's always something crafty going on at Pearl City!

Happy New Year! New Year celebrations and resolutions (how many have you made?)! February is fast approaching & thoughts of hearts & flowers start to come to mind. Cut out heart shapes from felt, arrange them & create an open rose like the one above or wrap the hearts tighter and create rose buds. These are easy to make & a perfect project for kids to create for their teachers, mom, aunties, grandmoms or any special lady! We'll be creating these pretty blooms at Pearl City for a make-n-take this Saturday, later this month & in early February (just in time for Valentine's Day). This Saturday's Crafting Adventures also includes a make-n-take for the Paracord Bracelet; see you there!

Summer Family Fun

Summer Family Fun

Join us & Celebrate Summer! Starting this week, our stores will feature 6 weeks of summer family projects on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. This Saturday features PLANT YOUR OWN GARDEN. Color a cute little pot, add soil, & seeds to plant and watch over the Summer.....just don't forget to water so it grows! At Pearl City, we will take this project just a bit further....little mini clay pots to paint & decorate will also be available as a make-n-take.

SPRING BREAK CRAFTING

Creative Keiki were busy beaders on Tuesday as they designed their own Memory Wire Bracelets! This morning they will be Spinning! Who will win the Spinners Challange?
Register early....this Keiki Crafting starts at 10:30 when they create their Paper Spinners! And, not to be forgotten, Teens will be braiding a *Paracord Bracelet this afternoon from 2:30-4pm! Keiki (ages 5-11 must be accompanied by an adult) Teens ages 12-18. Fees vary.
*Braiding a Paracord Bracelet will be featured at the Mapunapuna Bead Shop Blast this Saturday too! See the other blog posted by Lynn!
